Good afternoon college community,

I hope everyone’s fall semester is coming to a great end.  Before the upcoming holidays and winter recess, I wanted to reach out and share some exciting news.

  • RƵ is growing!  For the first time since the 2017-18 academic year, credit FTES, credit headcount, and credit class offerings are up.  As of December 3rd, the college is thrilled to report the following credit metrics for the current semester:
    • Fall 2023 credit unduplicated headcount has increased by 828 students over Fall 2022.
    • Fall 2023 total credit units taken have increased by 11,518 over Fall 2022.
    • Fall 2023 credit FTES has increased by 249 over Fall 2022.
    • Fall 2023 credit instructional schedule growth of 10 FTEF over Fall 2022.

This sustainable growth is directly attributed to the outstanding work of our faculty, chairs, staff, and administrators.  Just as exciting, the first round of credit FTES numbers have arrived for the Spring 2024 semester.  Although it is very early in the registration cycle and the FTES numbers will change, Spring credit FTES is currently up 330 FTES from the prior spring semester (2023) at the same point in time!  As we return from the winter recess, Fall 2023 noncredit numbers and updated Spring 2024 credit numbers will be available to the college community.

  • The Performing Arts and Educational Center (PAEC) is scheduled to be submitted to the Division of State Architect (DSA) on December 29th!  Once submitted to DSA, the fully funded $182M project is approximately 10 to 12 months away from breaking ground.  RƵ is looking forward to the long-awaited official groundbreaking ceremony scheduled for Fall 2024.  It will be here before we know it!
  • Comprehensive Program Review Funding for Departments – The college is working on uploading budgets for prioritized department needs based on the Fall 2022 program review requests.  The funding is scheduled to be available when we return in the spring.  A big thank you to the Department Chairs, Student Equity Strategies Committee, and Deans for engaging in a process that contributed to the approval of $750K in funded requests to directly benefit our students and classrooms.  Note: The College will undertake a similar review process for the Fall 2023 Annual Plan requests for 2024-25 funding; departments and programs have received related guidance.

I wanted to conclude with a note of gratitude for all your great work this semester in serving our students and the larger community.  I hope you have a restful break and a wonderful set of holidays, and I look forward to seeing everyone in the spring.

Be well,

David

Note: All RƵ locations will be closed from Monday, December 25th though Monday, January 1st and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2nd.
